WSI To Introduce TruVu Titan with Enhanced Features at NAB 2008

Weather leader presents advancements in high-definition severe weather coverage

LAS VEGAS, NV, April 11, 2008 – WSI Corporation, the leading provider of weather data and graphics services for the majority of the nation’s broadcasters and cable networks, will introduce new advancements in TruVu Titan at NAB 2008 (Booth SL325).

Severe and disruptive weather stories need to be told quickly and clearly. With the enhanced TruVu Titan, meteorologists can utilize WSI’s most powerful interactive storytelling tool to produce high-resolution pictures without rendering -- and without losing time on the air.

TruVu Titan presents striking photorealistic mapping and compelling 3D Earth images. Using volumetric radar data, Titan creates the highest quality live 3D weather images ever seen on television. Designed to provide first-to-air, neighborhood-level coverage of severe breaking weather, TruVu Titan has been further refined with every release to cover disruptive weather of all kinds, and to provide the most accurate forecast.

Taking tropical storm coverage to a new level, TruVu Titan introduces several new features at NAB 2008:

Hurricane Tracker provides the clearest, most accurate depiction of the path, and probable future course, of deadly hurricanes. The new feature animates in real time, combining a constantly updated stream of incoming data from the National Hurricane Center.

Hurricane Hunter follows the live path of the hurricane-monitoring aircraft of the National Weather Service as they fly into the eye of the storm to gather data.

Spaghetti Tracks is a new feature that conveys the uncertainty of the rapidly changing situation as the jumble of multiple hurricane forecast models untangles as landfall nears.

Easier to use than ever before, TruVu Titan includes the following features for stations to use for enhanced storytelling:

Titan Impact provides on-camera meteorologists the tools they need to keep viewers informed and safe from all dangerous phenomenons associated with severe weather outbreaks. Titan Impact provides critical intensity information on the top five hazards related to thunderstorms while other index products on the market only identify a single storm threat, such as tornadoes.

WSI Fire Weather Index is a new, vital index derived from WSI’s exclusive 4km RPM forecast model that is available as part of WSI’s Vortex HD service. It provides an easy understand threat level for the potential of brush- and wild fires based on a sophisticated algorithm incorporating wind, humidity and other atmospheric and surface conditions.

The United States Precision Lightning Network (USPLN), is WSI’s exclusive lightning network, providing the most comprehensive real-time lightning data available.
