WSI To Unveil TruVu Max at NAB 2008

Weather leaders presents major advancement in lifesaving weather radar and severe weather reporting

LAS VEGAS, NV, April 11, 2008 – WSI Corporation, the leading provider of weather data and graphics services for the majority of the nation’s broadcasters and cable networks, announces the premiere of TruVu Max at NAB 2008 (Booth SL325).

WSI’s newest TruVu media production tool, TruVu Max delivers unsurpassed real-time rendering technology that simplifies some of the most difficult aspects of producing a compelling weathercast. Designed with, by and for on-air weather talent, TruVu Max offers more content options for telling disruptive weather stories than any other production tool. The unparalleled weather presentation also meets viewers’ demands for coverage on every new screen and platform.

“After years of research and product development, we are proud to introduce TruVu Max to our television clients at NAB,” said WSI Senior Vice President and General Manager / Media Division Jim Menard. “We are confident that this new product will allow broadcasters the opportunity to present the most compelling weathercasts in the market, while making it easier for them than ever before.”

With new drag and drop effects and pre-built templates, this new user interface enables weathercasters to put together gripping stories in less time. Weathercasts also offer improved accuracy, as TruVu Max updates data instantly. Scenes play in real time, showing breaking weather live during each hit. Along with WSI’s exclusive 4km RPM model, HD satellite and HD Earth views, the weather team has access to the highest resolution weather data in the market. All together, this enables weathercasters to create the microclimate “Weather Where I Live” forecasts that today’s audiences demand.

Viewers accustomed to HDTV and special effects will appreciate the unmatched photorealism and striking Earth effects that exceed anything they’ve come to expect from HD programming, from dynamic graphics and 3D animations to riveting weather visualizations.

Known as the company that pioneered high-resolution mapping, WSI now presents further enhanced realism – allowing weathercasters to take the story from neighborhood level to nationwide instantly. Lighting, shadowing and water effects and improved elevation data from 30 to 10 meters offers increased clarity.

To maximize efficiency, WSI has developed a truly intuitive user interface, Hitmaker, an innovative tool dedicated to building and managing individual weather hits, Wizards which provide instant content editing, and On Deck, a unique on-screen storage area for commonly used show elements.
