Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Enterprise, AL (Relocation Assistance is Available)

 

Summary:  Conducts analytical studies on engineering proposals to develop design for products by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes research date and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposal
  • Confers with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develop design.
  • Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics
  • Directs and coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product or system.
  • Plans and develops experimental test programs.
  • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
  • Confers with research and other engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required.
  • Evaluates engineering test results for possible application to development of systems or other uses
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks
  • Other duties may be assigned as appropriate

 

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering or related field/training desired; 3-5 year’s related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • MS desired

Skills and Competencies Required:

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equation, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software; Development software; Internet software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software, MAPICS software, and Word Processing software. Experience with SolidWorks or similar products required.

Additional Skills/Competencies Desired:

  • Radar experience is a plus
